Shahid Kapoor To Play The Lead In The Hindi Remake Of Arjun Reddy

Rumours were rife that one of the best Telugu releases of 2017, Arjun Reddy is being remade in Hindi. Now, after extensive speculations around the name of the actor playing the protagonist, it is being reported that the makers have zeroed in on Padmaavat actor Shahid Kapoor for the role.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Shahid has agreed to play Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda’s role.

A source was quoted as saying, “The film is scheduled to go on the floors in July and the team is looking for an actress opposite Shahid at the moment. While the locations are yet to be finalised, the plan is to shoot in India as well as abroad.” In the original film, Shalini Pandey played the female lead opposite Vijay.

Directed and written by Sandeep Vanga, Arjun Reddy was critically acclaimed and was a huge hit at the box-office. The movie is on the story of a medical surgeon suffering from anger management issues, who goes on a self-destructive path after his girlfriend marries someone else.

The movie will also be remade in Tamil and Chiyaan Vikram’s son Dhruv will play the titular role. The Hindi remake will be helmed by Sandeep Vanga, who also directed the original film and will be making his Hindi directorial debut with this film. Shahid Kapoor is currently working on Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
