Shah Rukh Khan may produce a movie with Akshay Kumar in the lead, but the story has to be correct, and everything needs to be collaborative.
In an interview to DNA, Shah Rukh Khan talks about his dream of producing Mahabharata for the screen, and working with big, international studios to make this happen. He also said that while he had wanted to make a film with Akshay, the story didn’t work out and the plan fell through.
SRK said:
I’m sure he is really open to it. I think whenever there is an opportunity, as producers, we should make this happen …
It’s about the company, not about individuals. So, two companies have come together to make a film with a big movie star. Similarly, we at Red Chillies do it too. Maybe, Dharma and Red Chillies, or YRF. Filmmaking should be collaborative. The more collaboration there is, in music, filmmaking, storytelling — you will have better films.
SRK and Akshay Kumar are famous box-office rivals, with their respective films often releasing within a few days of each other. However, their off-screen relationship has been cordial, with Shah Rukh even describing Akshay as a hardworking and cool actor.
