Shahrukh Khan will be hosting a new show on TV channel Star Plus called Nayi Soch. The show is the Hindi version of TED Talks. Confirming the news on Twitter, SRK said he was very excited, as he is a fan of TED Talks. His last stint as the host of a TV show was with Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2007.

The show has been created in partnership with the non-profit organisation TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), and marks the first time that TED will collaborate with a major network and star to produce a TV series featuring original TED Talks in a language other than English. Juliet Blake, head of TV at TED, will serve as executive producer of the series. Additional details will be announced at the annual TED Conference in Vancouver between April 24-28.

SRK said in a press release, reported by the Hindustan Times, “Star India’s legacy of using television as an instrument of social change, and TED’s unequivocal drive to showcase simple but unique ideas in an effort to spark debate and conversation are a very powerful combination. I believe TED Talks India: Nayi Soch will inspire many minds across India. It is a concept I connected with instantly, as I believe that the media is perhaps the single most powerful vehicle to inspire change.”

TED Talks is a nonprofit that aims to spread ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics, from science to business to global issues, in more than 100 languages.

TED Talks India: Nayi Soch will air on Star Plus. While most TED Talks are hosted on its website, it isn’t confirmed if the show will take place on television or Star Plus’ Hotstar channel.
