Dulquer Salmaan’s first film in Telugu was last year’s Savitri Lakshmi biopic Mahanati. It was a bilingual film, made in Tamil as Nadigaiyar Thilagam. Dulquer’s role in the film was appreciated, he had played the character of Sivaji Ganeshan, who was married to Savitri.

Currently, Dulquer is acting along with Sonam Kapoor in The Zoya Factor. This is his third Hindi film after Karwaan, which released last year.

Karwaan also starred Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Karwaan was a road-trip movie centred on a missing dead body. It grossed averagely at the box office, but Dulquer’s performance in the movie was received well.

He presently has two other films under production. Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, a Tamil movie by director Desingh Periyasamy, and Oru Yamandan Premakatha, a Malayalam movie by director BC Noufal.

The actor had earlier shared a picture from the sets of Oru Yamandan Premakatha.

Shoot for his latest Tamil film Vaanjust began. Ra Karthik is the director, and actors Kriti Kharbanda and Kalyani Priyadarshan play female leads in the movie. Dulquer had recently tweeted a poster, announcing the film.

Actor Kalyani too made her debut in Telugu recently. She starred in the 2017 film Hello.

Director Ra Karthik spoke about casting her in Vaan, and said in a ToI report, “I wanted someone who had the energy of a Nazriya or Genelia for this particular role and felt Kalyani had that vibe. That she is also a fresh face is an added advantage.”
