Shilpa Shetty And Raj Kundra File Rs 100 Cr Defamation Suit Against Man Who Accused Them Of Cheating

Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband Raj Kundra have reportedly filed a complaint against textile owner Ravi Mohanlal Bhalotia for ‘falsely’ accusing them of cheating. According to an Indian Express report, the couple has filed a defamation suit worth Rs 100 crore alleging that Bhalotia wanted to malign their reputation.

Towards the end of April, Bhalotia alleged that Big Deals, a company in which Shetty and Kundra are directors, collected money from customers for the sale of bed-sheets on behalf of Bhalotia Textiles through TV advertisements. However, the textile firm alleged that the couple has not paid them the proceeds and a case had been registered at the Thane police station.

Raj Kundra had responded to the accusation stating that it was Bhalotia who violated the law and owed them money.

“Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra have slapped a defamation notice for Rs 100 crore on Ravi Mohanlal Bhalotia. A quashing petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court as they have tight contracts signed and have been responsibly following the laws of the land,” confirmed Kundra’s spokesperson in a statement.

According to reports, Kundra stepped down as the CEO of Best Deal four months ago and had sent his resignation to the company in December. That same month, Best Deals’ operations was temporarily suspended due to demonetization and a cash crunch in the market.

Vendors across the country, however, had alleged that the company had defaulted on payments since the beginning of last year. Best Deal TV was launched in March last year by Shetty and Kundra, too.
