Shruti Haasan is in talks to star in national award-winning director SP Jananathan’s film opposite Vijay Sethupathi. The actress is yet to feature in a Tamil after Singam 3 in 2017.
Talking to Silverscreen, the official spokesperson for the actress said “Talks regarding the project are currently underway. There has not been any confirmation as of now. More details could be expected in the coming days.”
Reports regarding the project emerged as early as June last year. The movie would mark Vijay Sethupathi’s second collaboration with the director after the 2015 film Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai. And reports linking Shruti Haasan to the new project began to emerge this year. The movie is reportedly a romantic drama, a genre that has not been attempted by Jananathan.
Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan has a yet-to-be-titled Hindi film, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, that is currently in the production stage. She will also be seen in Tamil-Telugu-Hindi multilingual Sabash Naidu directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar. The movie is a spy-comedy featuring Shurti Haasan in the female lead. Kamal Haasan reprises his role of Balram Naidu (a Telugu RAW Officer), a spin-off of one of the characters he played in Dasavathaaram(2008). The film also has Ramya Krishnan and Brahmanandam playing important roles.

The film was shot in three languages simultaneously, and the principal photography commenced in June 2016 at Los Angeles, United States. The film’s music is by Ilaiyaraaja, while cinematography is by Jaya Krishna Gummadi.
Shruti Haasan had also been occupied with her talk show titled Hello Sago, that came to an end two months back. The chat show premiered in October last year and concluded in January. The show witnessed celebrities like Akshara Haasan, RJ Balaji, Vijay Sethupati, Shankar and Dr K Sathya Lakshmi attending as guests.
Vijay Sethupathi’s latest release is Thiagaraja Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe that has been garnering strong reviews. He also Sindhubaadh awaiting release.
