Shruti Haasan has reportedly signed a new film opposite Vijay Sethupathi, directed by national award winning SP Jananathan. She was last seen in Singam 3 in Tamil, and did not have a release in 2018 as she was busy hosting shows.
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the actor plays the female lead in SP Jananathan’s film, said to be a romantic drama. The director’s last film was Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai starring Vijay Sethupathi, Arya and Shaam in the lead.
It is expected that the film will be a different one as Jananathan is known for films with hard-hitting themes and a focus on female leads, and Vijay Sethupathi is known for experimenting with the characters he plays.
On the work front, Shruthi Haasan has a yet-to-be-titled Hindi film directed by Mahesh Manjrekar which is currently in the production stage. She will also be seen in Tamil-Telugu-Hindi multilingual Sabash Naidu directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar. The film is a spy, comedy, adventure movie, starring Shurthi Haasan in the lead. Kamal Haasan reprises the role of Balram Naidu (a Telugu RAW Officer), a spin off of one of the characters he played in Dasavathaaram(2008). The film also has Ramya Krishnan and Brahmanandam playing important roles.
The film was shot in three languages simultaneously, and the principal photography commenced in June 2016 at Los Angeles, United States. The film’s music is by Ilaiyaraaja, while cinematography is by Jaya Krishna Gummadi.
Meanwhile, Shruthi Haasan’s talk show titled Hello Sago, came to an end last month. The chat show premiered on October 28, 2018, concluded on January 27, 2019, with actors Akshara Haasan, RJ Balaji and Dr. K. Sathya Lakshmi as its last guests.
