Speaking to a news portal, CEO of Thenandal Films, Hema Rukmani said, “We found a replacement for Shruti and we are waiting for the right time to announce it.” Hema also said that the one replacing Shruti is a “big star”. Among the names mentioned as a likely replacement are that of Anushka Shetty, and Nayanthara.

However, when contacted, a source in Thenandal films told Silverscreen that nothing has been firmly fixed, and official updates will be made soon.

Earlier this year, Shruti Haasan walked out of the epic-fantasy film, immediately after launching it at Cannes. Silverscreen also reported that Shruti had walked out of the film citing issues with the script and timelines. But, speaking to Silverscreen, a Thenandal films source said, “Sundar C has made it his aim to keep Sangamithra as professional and organised as possible. So, for an actress to suddenly hint that organisational issues were the reason for her not being a part of the film is silly. The real reason and issue is completely different, but it is one we won’t be making public.”

Now, Thenandal Films have said that Shruti hadn’t walked out, but the producers felt that they couldn’t work with her. They add that the decision to part was made in a professional way. The producers also denied rumours that the script for the film was being rewritten. Production will likely begin in October.
