The debutant filmmaker added that the film’s dubbing is currently underway.

The first look poster of Siddy was released by actor Unni Mukundan on social media on Thursday.

The film is backed by Maheshwaran Nandagopal under the banner of Chennai-based Surya Film Productions.

Pious, who has previously worked in advertising, said about Siddy, “It is a highly fast-paced crime thriller. It is about a man who has committed a crime and the chain of events that happen after it.”

Aji John, who has appeared in films such as Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Neeyum Njanum, and Shikkari Shambhu, essays the title role. “The film follows his character. However, it is an anti-hero subject,” said Pious, adding that IM Vijayan plays the role of a police officer.

Other cast members include Akshaya Udayakumar and Haritha Haridas as the female leads, and Tanuja Karthik, Venu Nariyapuram, and Divya Gopinath, among others. The director revealed that many theatre artists were also roped in.

Pious clarified that the film is not based on true incidents and said he conceived the story about 7-8 years ago.

“We started to do the film in Tamil, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we changed our plan to make it in Malayalam. We are planning to make it in Tamil too, in the future. The talks for that are on, and there are high possibilities of a remake,” Pious revealed.

The music is composed by Ramesh Narayan and the film features three songs, the director said.

Siddy, which went on floors about two months ago, was wrapped up in July. It was shot in Kovalam, Kerala by cinematographer Karthik S Nair.

Pious added that the team plans to release the film in September or October. “I wish to have a theatrical release, but it all depends on the situation,” he said.
