Simbu has been approached for a part in Kannada director Narthan’s upcoming Tamil movie, which is reportedly a remake of his film Mufti. The project will be produced by KE Gnanavel Raja, under the banner of Studio Green.

According to In.com, a source said, “Gnanavel Raja has scheduled the dates for the film with Simbu, and the Accham Yenbadhu Madamaiyyada actor will be part of the film directed by Narthan. It might be a Tamil remake of Narthan’s Mufti.” Another report suggested that Arya was likely to play the other hero. Sarathkumar has also been approached for a role in the movie.

The original movie featured Shiva Rajkumar and Sriimurali, and released in 2017. The story revolved around a cop who chased an underworld don. It went on to become a huge success at the box office with reports of a sequel doing the rounds.

Meanwhile, Simbu who was last seen in Sundar C’s directorial Vandha Rajavathaan Varuven, is in Mauritius to train in martial arts for Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu. Pitched as a political entertainer, the film is produced by V House Productions.

About Maanadu, Venkat Prabhu said in a Firstpost interview, “It’s a long pending project. We have been talking about a possible collaboration for a long time now, but suddenly STR called me one day. I narrated his character along with the outline of the script. STR liked the idea and gave a nod. The movie will come as a different experience for STR. His fans will find his character in the film exciting.”

Venkat Prabhu said that he was considering a summer release. “As a team, I think we will be able to pull it off and release our film for summer 2019.”

Actor Simbu recently turned music composer with Oviya’s film 90ML. He will also be a part of Hansika’s upcoming film Maha.
