Singer Pragathi Guruprasad to Play the Female Lead in Bala’s Next Film

Pragathi Guruprasad, who rose to fame after she participated in the reality show Super Singer- Junior, will be playing the lead role in  director Bala’s next film. Actor Yuvan, who played the lead role in the 2012 film Saattai, will be playing the male lead in the film.

Pragathi had sung a song in Bala’s Paradesi, and was supposed to make her acting debut through his film Thaarai Thappattai. However, she was replaced by another actress. She has sung playback in films like Vanakkam Chennai and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum. In 2012, she finished as runner-up in the third season of the reality singing competition Super Singer Junior in Vijay TV.

Yuvan, who made his acting debut through Anbazhagan’s school drama Saattai, went on to act in films like Keeripulla and Kamarkattu.

Earlier, Bala had announced that he would be making a multi-starrer based on Vela Ramamoorthy’s novel Kuttra Parambarai. The film was supposed to star actors Vishal, Arya, Rana Daggubatti, Atharvaa, Anushka, Tamannaah and Arvind Swamy. However, the film has been postponed, and Bala has begun pre-production of this project. The film was embroiled in controversy after director Barathiraja claimed that the script was his idea and accused Bala and Vela Ramamoorthy of plagiarism.
