Single All The Way: Netflix Announces Gay Holiday Rom-Com as Winter Holiday Release

Single All The Way, a queer holiday romantic comedy film will release during the winter holiday season on Netflix, the streaming service announced in a press release on Tuesday.

The film starring Michael Urie, Philemon Chambers and Luke MacFarlane in lead roles is helmed by the Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer. The director described Single All The Way as a story that happens after “coming out”.

 Single All The Way’s cast includes Barry Bostwick, Jennifer Robertson, Jennifer Coolidge and Kathy Najimy. According to Netflix’s statement, the plot reads, “Desperate to avoid his family’s judgment about his perpetual single status, Peter convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend that they’re now in a relationship. But when Peter’s mother sets him up on a blind date with her handsome trainer James — the plan goes awry.”

The film is backed by Joel S Rice under the banner Muse Entertainment. The production house has previously produced a miniseries TUT and a TV movie Double Holiday. According to Rice, the film explores friendship and love between gay men. Chad Hodge who has written the film’s story is also the executive producer for this project. 

Urie was recently seen in an American drama film Swan Song, which premiered on March 17. While Chambers is known for his performance in Of Hearts and Castles, MacFarlane is known for playing Scotty Wandell in the Brothers & Sisters TV series. 

Netflix’s holiday lineup includes A Castle for Christmas, The Princess Switch 3, and A Boy Called Christmas.
