Sivakarthikeyan-Pandiraj Film Not Titled ‘Enga Veetu Pillai’

Sivakarthikeyan At The 'Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja' Audio Launch

Actors Sivakarthikeyan and Aishwarya Rajesh’s upcoming film with director Pandiraj is not titled Enga Veetu Pillai. Vijaya Productions, which backed the 1965 MGR film of the same name, has clarified in a statement that the rights to the title are with it.

Vijaya Productions said that the copyright to all its production ventures has not been sold to anyone, and that this had already been established in a letter sent to film unions a few years ago.

Vijaya Productions has made superhits such as Pathala Bhairavi, Kalyanam Panni Paar, Chandraharam, Mayabazaar, Padikathavan and Veeram, and it is also backing the upcoming Sanga Tamizhan, starring Vijay Sethupathi.

A source close to the production house told Silverscreen, “Two years ago, we had asked filmmakers to approach us if they wanted to use any of our film titles. It was a request to inform us, and not to demand payment to use the titles. We sent the letter since we ourselves are planning to reuse the titles, especially of the popular movies, in films we produce in the future.”

The source also confirmed that the producers of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, Sun Pictures, had not approached Vijaya Productions for the title. The producers are yet to make an official announcement about the title yet.

As reported recently, the film will release on September 27. The first schedule in Karaikudi was wrapped up recently, and the team has started the next one in Theni.

Meanwhile, PS Mithran’s Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Hero is likely to release during Christmas, and pre-production work on SK17 with Vignesh Shivan is on in full swing.
