Sobhita Dhulipala, former Miss India and Raman Raghav 2.0 star, and Brahmanaman actor Shashank Arora will join Nivin Pauly in the cast of the Malayalam film, Moothon. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is based on her Sundance Award-winning script.
“My movie doesn’t adhere to the concept of lead heroes and heroines. It’s about a young boy Mulla in search of his older brother Akbar and all the other characters come incidental to the story telling,” Geetu tells Times of India. Geetu refused to say which actor would play which character, and said there would be a surprise in the casting choice.
The film also has Harish Khanna, best known for performance in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and Kaminey (2009). Other cast members include Sujith Shankar, Alencier Ley Lopez, Soubin Shahir, and newcomer Melissa Thomas.
Geetu said that the actors have undergone intensive acting workshops, adding that each character has varying shades of grey. “That has really benefitted them. Also, it was quite exciting for me to work with them because they have gone beyond my expectations. I think people will sit and take notice of the performances. Nivin was a complete surprise package; he was absolutely brilliant,” she told Times Of India.
The team recently wrapped up their Mumbai schedule and will head to their Lakshadweep schedule sometime in October. While it is a Malayalam film, there will be dialogues in Hindi as well.
