“As a producer, I like to be hands-on with my productions. I finalised a cycling path for a scene. In Dubai desert, they have made cycling tracks where thousands of cyclists come during the day and evening, park their cars and cycle for hours. It’s an unexplored place in movies and I want to use it for shooting and training. It’s a beautiful place for an athlete to train. I want to also shoot in China and Seoul,” Sonu told The Economic Times

PV Sindhu, who is currently ranked number 3 in the world in badminton, became the first Indian woman to win a silver medal last year at the Rio Summer Olympics, besting her own previous record of a bronze medal. She joins Saina Nehwal as the only two badminton players to win medals for India.

Hindustan Times reports that Sindhu is likely to have a cameo in the biopic.

Sonu said, “I really want Sindhu to be a part of the film, just may be a special appearance. It is still in the scripting stages; hopefully, I should be soon ready with the final draft. I will try to see where I can incorporate her appearance. This will make the film even more special and that is what my efforts are for.” The producers haven’t yet shortlisted an actress who will play Sindhu in the film.

Silverscreen had earlier reported that Deepika Padukone was being approached to play the lead role. She is the daughter of Indian badminton champion Prakash Padukone.
