Soorarai Pottru is slated for a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. In a tweet, Rajsekar Pandian, the director, and co-producer of 2D Entertainment that is bankrolling the film wrote, “We got the NOC #SooraraiPottru #AnbaanaFans Get ready for updates and new release date!!  Festival of Lights”

Though the official release date has not been announced yet, the tweet suggests that the film may stream on the OTT platform from Diwali this year.  Soorarai Pottru was initially slated to release on October 30. However, actor Suriya on Thursday issued a statement announcing that the release will be postponed due to issues in obtaining the NOC.

The actor wrote, “As you all know SP is a story set in aviation industry. So we had to deal with numerous procedures and permissions, because it’s a matter of national security and we were dealing with real Indian Airforce aircrafts and security. A few new NOCs are still pending for approval, and we understand the wait is inevitable as this adverse time is demanding more and more focus on the nation and its priorities, than anything else!”

Along with the statement, he had also released a new number, Aagasam Song. The song is jointly composed by GV Prakash and Thaikkudam Bridge. While the song has been sung by Christin Jos and Govind Vasantha, Arunraja Kamaraj has penned the lyrics.
