The pictures were reportedly from their holiday in Iceland, taken days after her wedding to Vishagan in February.

She shared them on twitter this week and said, “Teach them early … and they learn to shine by themselves!!! #Swimming is an essential activity !! #TeachThemYoung #KeepThemActive #WaterFun #EnsureSafetyAlways. (sic)”

Comments on Twitter asked her to be more sensitive while her city was facing water scarcity. She deleted the tweet and said that the throwback pictures were to emphasise the importance of physical activities for children from a young age, and she was removing them after considering the sensitivity around the issue. Many also asked her to remove the pictures from her Facebook account.

Soundarya is currently producing a web-series based on Kalki’s famous Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan. She is the creative director of the series and will be co-producing it with Mx Player. Direction is by Sooriyaprathap, a history scholar who has worked with director KS Ravikumar and Soundarya before.

She tweeted the news saying initial works were on. Mani Ratnam’s film adaptation of the novel is also in pre-production stages.

Soundarya Rajinikanth is a director, producer and a graphic designer. Her last directorial was Velai Illa Pattadhari 2, the sequel to the super hit VIP starring Dhanush, Kajol and others. In 2014, she also made Kochadaiyaan starring Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone, but the film didn’t do well at the box-office.

Earlier this year, she announced her wedding to Vishagan Vanangamudi, son of Sulur Vanangamudi, who is an executive director of Chennai-based Apex Laboratories Private Limited. Vishagan made his acting debut in the movie Vanjagar Ulagam. They got married at the Leela Palace in Chennai this February. The event was attended by politicians and celebrities from the industry.
