Sowcar Janaki May Be Part Of Jyotika-Karthi’s Next With Jeethu Joseph

Actress Sowcar Janaki is reportedly part of Malayalam director Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming film starring Jyotika and Karthi in the lead. Official announcements are awaited.

Sowcar Janaki, who is 87, has the longest recorded career for any actor in Indian cinema. She is well-known for her roles in films such as Naan Kanda Sorgam, Kaviya Thalavi, Bhagya Lakshmi, Oli Villaku, Maanavan, Uyardha Manidhan, and also many supporting roles. She was last seen in director Maruthi Dasari’s 2016 Telugu film Babu Bangaram where she played Sailaja (Nayanthara)’s grandmother.

Shoot for Jeethu Joseph’s yet-to-be-titled film is currently on, with schedules planned in Goa and Ooty. The film is reportedly a crime thriller and and stars Jyotika and Karthi as siblings. Malayalam actor Anson Paul, last seen as Oviyaa’s boyfriend in 90 ML, is likely to play the antagonist. Sathyaraj may be seen as Jyotika and Karthi’s father in the film, and actors Ammu Abhirami, Nikhila Vimal and Seetha also recently came on board.

Vaicom 18 is producing the film along with Jyotika’s brother Suraj. Music is by Govind Vasantha, who is also composing for Jyotika’s next with director Fredrick. Cinematography is by RD Rajasekar.

The film was announced on April 27, and a first-look poster was also released. Director Jeethu Joseph is best known for his thrillers such as Papanasam, Memories and Oozham.

This is Jyotika’s first film with her brother-in-law Karthi. Karthi has a film with director Bhagyaraj Kannan under production, and is also awaiting the release of Kaithi directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Meanwhile, Jyotika has interesting films lined up for release. Raatchasi by director Sy Gowthamraj, starring Jyotika as a government school principal, releases on July 5. She also has director Kalyan’s Jackpot, co-starring Revathy. The film is a comedy entertainer and stars the two lead actors as police officers. It was cleared with a U certificate by the Censor Board on July 3. Jyotika’s film with director Fredrick will begin later this year.
