Srimanthudu, starring Mahesh Babu and Shruti Haasan, will be dubbed in Tamil as Selvandhan, and released across Tamil Nadu on August 7, the same day the Telugu version releases worldwide.
Srimanthudu is directed by Koratala Siva, whose last film Mirchi (2013) was a huge success. The audio track, comprising of songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad, released last week to a positive response. The film had earlier been slated for an Eid release on July 17, but the date was changed to August 7 to avoid clashing with Baahubali‘s release. The gesture was welcomed by the industry as well as theatre owners in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Mahesh Babu’s next film Brahmotsavam will be a Tami-Telugu bilingual, and the release of Selvandhan is indicative of how serious the Telugu actor is about amplifying his marketability in Tamil Nadu.
