Produced by Abraham Mathew under the Abaam Movies banner, the film has written by Suvin Somashekaran and directed by Domin D’Silva.

The announcement regarding Star’s theatrical release comes a day after Culture Minister Saji Cherian announced that the government will consider reopening theatres in the next phase. Noting that the test positivity rate (TPR) is reducing, the minister said that it is a relief for the State and that they will take a final call on reopening of theatres and auditoriums as soon as possible.

Besides Star, a number of films are planning their release dates anticipating the reopening. Ajagajantharam, the upcoming Malayalam action film starring Antony Varghese, will release during the Pooja holidays in around 300 theatres. The lead actor shared the announcement on his social media handle. Pooja holidays mark the 9-day Hindu festival that would begin on October 7 this year and the last day of the festival would be on October 15. It is customary for films to release during this period.

Directed by Tinu Pappachan, the film has been produced by Emmanuel Joseph and Ajith Thalapilly. Besides Varghese, it also features Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad, and Arjun Ashokan. The makers of the film postponed the release of the film in March 2021, indefinitely due to the lack of second shows in Kerala.
