The upcoming film is set to be helmed by debutant filmmaker KS, who has previously assisted director VV Vinayak. It will be produced on a large scale by Sreenivas’ father, Bellamkonda Suresh, under the banner of Sree Lakshmi Narasimha Productions.

According to the makers, the biopic will throw light on the life of Nageswara Rao, a notorious thief in Stuartpuram in the 1970s. He was known for his clever ways of escaping from the police and prisons. One such escape from Chennai jail earned him the nickname Tiger. He was finally shot dead by the police in 1987. Nageswara Rao’s photo still hangs at the main door of his house in Stuartpuram, which is now a popular tourist spot, the makers added.

Meanwhile, Sreenivas will be marking his Hindi debut through the remake of Chatrapathi, directed by VV Vinayak and produced by Pen Studios banner. The film’s shooting commenced recently in Hyderabad. The original Telugu version, starring Prabhas and Shriya Saran, was directed by SS Rajamouli and released in 2005.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Suresh said, “We are building the sets in Hyderabad, where we will begin shooting Stuartpuram Donga from August 18. Sai Sreenivas will be simultaneously shooting for this film along with Chatrapati. He will shoot for the Hindi film for 20 days in a month, while the remaining 10 days will be dedicated to the biopic.”

The film will be shot by cinematographer Shyam K Naidu, while Thammiraju serves as the editor.
