After more than 40 years in cinema, Superstar Rajnikanth is set to make his debut in television with Discoveryt Channel’s new show, Into The Wild with Bear Grylls. The episode also intends to focus on water conservation.
Rajinikanth is the next Indian personality to be featured in the channel after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The new series is produced by The Natural Studios and Banijay Asia. The actor, who is known for his simple and humble personality off screen, is adored by millions and enjoys a kind of cult following.
Into The Wild with Bear Grylls is an innovative new show format that has been inspired by the previous successful series, Man Vs Wild. The episode that featured the PM, broke the internet, and was described by some as the TV event of the year.
Speaking to the media about his decision to participate in this television format, Rajini was quite candid, saying, “This is a truly unique show – it offers thrills and also has a message. When the team from Discovery approached me for this, I couldn’t say no. My guru K Balachander’s studio was also involved in helping me make the decision.”
He added, ahead of the show, “Bear Grylls has tested the survival skills of multiple celebrity guests, pushing them to their limits; I look forward to the survival challenge in the mesmerising wilderness of India.”

The show’s message on water conservation is also being spoken about, and Rajinikanth addressed this aspect as well, saying, “Water is an important topic for us all and every Indian will need to come forward and contribute to this cause. It is a war, in a manner of speaking, and we have to lead this at all levels. Discovery, is the perfect platform for taking this message into every home.”
