Actor Suriya, who is awaits the release of S3, said that a film with Gautham Menon is in the offing and will most likely happen next year. “It’s about time we reunite. We have been in talks and something should materialise next year,” the actor told IANS.
The duo had made blockbusters like Khaakha Khaakha and Vaaranam Aayiram before hitting a rough patch in 2013. Suriya had a fallout with the director over Dhruvanatchathiram. The film had originally been planned in 2013 with Suriya in the lead. But Suriya pulled out of the project once it became clear that the film wasn’t taking off. At that time, Suriya had said: “I would like to mention that all I have been asking is a complete story line and bound script which only fair to be provided to an actor. Now, it has come to a point where I have lost valuable time and cannot afford to wait any further. Hence with deep sense of pain I have taken the decision to exit the project.”
Gautham Menon subsequently went on to make Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (then titled ‘Sattendru Marudhu Vaanilai’) with STR.
Recently, at AYM’s press meet, Gautham Menon said, “Suriya did not like the script of Dhuruva Natchathiram. He felt the film was too international to be made in Tamil. We may do it in a later point of time.”
Suriya is currently shooting for Vignesh Shivan’s Thaanaa Serndha Kootam. In a recent interview, Suriya said that a project with Gautham Menon was supposed to take off after Singam 3, but did not materialise. The actor will team up with Selvaraghavan for his next film.
