Pitched as a political thriller, NGK or Nandha Gopalan Kumaran will see Suriya playing the titular character. It is produced by S. R. Prabhu under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures, and stars Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh. Bala Singh, Mansoor Ali Khan, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Sarath Kumar and Jagapathi Babu play pivotal roles.
The film marks the first collaboration of the director-actor duo. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and lyrics for one of the songs is by Vignesh Shivan, the director of Suriya’s Thaana Serntha Kootam.

NGK was earlier scheduled to release on Diwali, but in August last year the film’s production house announced that there would be a delay. Director Selvaraghavan’s health was cited as one of the reasons for this. He had tweeted about a simple medical procedure he underwent and said he would resume work in a couple of days. A source close to the director also said, “There are many scenes that are left to be canned. It is not possible to do all that in a couple of months.”
On the work front, actor Suriya will next be seen in KV Anand’s action thriller Kaapaan produced by Lyca Productions. The film will also star Mohanlal in the lead, with Arya and Boman Irani playing pivotal roles.
