Swathi Reddy, who made her debut in Subramaniapuram (2008), will soon play the female lead in the Telugu version of director Manikandan’s 2016 Tamil film, Aandavan Kattalai.
The film featured Vijay Sethupathi, Ritika Singh, Pooja Devariya, Nassar and Yogi Babu, and was about the story of a man acquiring fake passports to get to another country. The film opened to critical acclaim, and became commercially successful. According to a Deccan Chronicle article, Swathi Reddy will play Ritika Singh’s role in the Telugu version.
“The shooting of this yet-to-be-titled movie has commenced. Since the original story is set in Chennai, the Telugu script has been tweaked to suit the taste of audiences,” a source told DC. Apart from Swathi, debutant Rakshak has been roped in. Chinni Krishna, best known for Brother of Bommali (2014), Veedu Theda, and as a writer for Badrinath (2011), will be directing this one.
Swathi, who recently starred in Yakkai with Krishna Kulasekaran, has another Tamil movie in the pipeline called Thiri with Ashwin Kakamanu. While the film was announced in 2015, it is yet to be released.
