‘Sye Raa Is A 12-Year Dream Come True. My Son Produced The Film To Help Fulfill My Dream’: Chiranjeevi

Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan At The 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' Press Meet

‘An ensemble cast from all industries’, ‘274 crore budget’, ‘the next Bahubali‘, and a real ‘Indian film’… these are some of the things one heard repeatedly at the press interaction with the cast of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy starring Chiranjeevi, Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Kiccha Sudeep, Tamannaah Bhatia and, Jagapathi Babu. The film is helmed by director Surender Reddy and is produced by Ram Charan under his Konidela Production Company.

The event saw many prominent personalities including directors Vikraman, Mohan Raja, Sasi, editor Mohan along with actors Chiranjeevi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ram Charan, lyricist Madhan Karky and art director Rajeevan come.

Tamannaah spoke in Tamil about how she was looking forward to another film like Bahubali where she could play a strong, larger-than-life character when she was approached with this. “Suri sir’s films always portray strong women, with a lot of scope for performance. They’re always woven with the plot. Even though this is a period film, it has a lot of relevance in today’s society,” said Tamannaah, “Chiranjeevi sir is the humblest human being. Even after working in so many projects he still takes the opinion of the director while performing. While looking into his huge eyes in a scene, I only prayed that I don’t forget my dialogues.”

Actor-Producer Ram Charan spoke of his love for the Tamil industry and the support he received from them. “I’m a big fan of Vijay Sethupathi sir especially after 96 and Super Deluxe. His climax performance in 96 is something that fascinated me a lot. I would like to thank Kamal Hassan sir for the three-minute voiceover he gave for a portion in the film and Aravind Swamy sir who requested me on letting him dub for my dad in the film. I’m so grateful to both of them for being a part of this film.”

Has Ram Charan promoted his father through Sye Raa…? “I love taking credit for what I do, but this is certainly not mine. He chose me as the producer and gave me the opportunity to promote him and I’m thankful to him for it,” said Ram Charan in the interaction.

Actor Chiranjeevi said he was happy returning to the city (Chennai) where he became an artist. The actor has always wanted to be a part of a period film and also told the crowd about how envious he was of Ram Charan whose second film Magadheera was of the exact genre. “Sye Raa… is a 12-year dream come true. The script excited me instantly but the lack of funds made it seem impossible. Now that we’re on par with international VFX standards, my son agreed to produce the film knowing how keen I was on fulfilling my dream. Yes, he did promote me,” said Chiranjeevi proudly.

Speaking about his co-actors Chiranjeevi says, “I’m happy to be amongst such wonderful actors like Nayanthara, Tamannaah, Vijay Sethupathi, and others. People who say I’m humble haven’t met Vijay Sethupathi. He’s the most humble human being ever. Even in his busy schedule, he readily agreed to be a part of this film. Amitabh Bachchan sir is the biggest asset to this film. He agreed to the film in just one phone call made and has extended constant support throughout the film.”

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is the biopic of freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. He was one of the first people to wage war against the British.

The technical crew of the film includes R. Rathnavelu who has handled cinematography, Amit Trivedi who has composed music, and Rajeevan who has taken care of art. The multilingual will hit screens tomorrow (October 2nd, 2019).
