Bollywood actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor will be sharing screen-space once again. The movie, Fanney Khan, is an official adaptation of the 2000 Dutch movie, Everybody’s Famous! The movie had been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
The movie will mark the directorial debut of Atul Manjrekar and will be jointly produced by Prerna Arora and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Prerna Arona, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, said that Aishwarya would be essaying the role of a singer with a “highly stylised retro look.”
The actors won’t have a romantic angle to their roles, like Taal and Humara Dil Aapke Paas Hai. “The team will start building the set in Mumbai next month and Anil will kick off shooting in the first week of August. Aishwarya joins him by month-end and the film will wrap up in a start-to-finish schedule by October,” Prerna said.
She also added that Anil Kapoor will be singing multiple songs in the movie, and Aishwarya too, is “likely to deliver her first single with this film”.
