Taapsee Pannu, the actor who was last seen in the Netflix romantic thriller Haseen Dillruba, has launched her own production company named ‘Outsiders Films’ in partnership with former Sony Pictures Networks executive Pranjal Khandhdiya, she announced on Thursday.

Talking about the production house, Pannu said in a statement, “With Outsiders Films, I aim to give back to the industry and empower talent who are looking for a breakthrough and come with no background like me. Pranjal and I together look forward to opening doors for new and fresh talents, both in front and behind the camera.”

The first project from the production house, a thriller named Blurr, was officially announced by Pannu on Thursday. Directed by Ajay Bahl, the film will star Pannu in the lead and will start rolling in 2022. The film is being jointly produced by Outsiders Films, Zee Studios and Echelon Production.

As per a Variety report, shooting for Blurr is set to start in the foothills of the Himalayas on July 18. Apart from Blurr, Outsiders Films is also working on another project headlined by Pannu and scheduled to begin in 2022. The production house has also signed two more films. There are also a few web series written for streaming platforms for which talks are ongoing.

Taking to her Instagram, Pannu shared a logo video of her production house.

About the name of the production house, Pannu said, “Pranjal and I both come from humble backgrounds, that’s when the name Outsiders Films clicked with us. We aim to produce meaningful, entertaining, and quality content.”

Khandhdiya has previously produced films such as Super 30, 83, Soorma, Piku, Mubarakan, Azhar and is also producing Rashmi Rocket, starring Taapsee.

Pannu’s upcoming projects in Hindi include Looop Lapeta, Rashmi Rocket and Shabaash Mithu. Recently, it was also announced that the actor is set to make her comeback in Telugu cinema with the upcoming film Mishan Impossible. The upcoming film is written and directed by filmmaker Swaroop RSJ.
