Taapsee Pannu has opted out of an event sponsored by a fairness cream brand. The actress was set to participate in the event, organised by the brand in Jaipur. However, once she learnt of the sponsors, Pannu canceled.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the event was about women’s empowerment, and Pannu was going to talk about the changing role of women in cinema.
Taapsee said, “I agree it was a last moment call but when I got to know that I will have to pose with the fairness brand during the event I decided to take my name out of that event. I have actually lost a few films because of being fair so I will definitely not propagate fairness in any way.” In the past, actresses like Kangana Ranaut and Kalki Koechlin have also refused to endorse fairness creams.
Taapsee is currently filming Naam Shabana. Her other film Runningshaadi.com is ready for release.
