Director Anubhav Sinha’s next film Mulk will star Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Rajat Kapoor, and others. The film, which the Anubhav describes as a social thriller, will tell the story of a family trying to reclaim their honour after a series of controversial events.
Indian Express reports that the director, who earlier made films like Ra.One, Dus, Cash, Tum Bin, and others, is working on the script of the film along with Mustaq Sheikh, who wrote Om Shanti Om, among other films.
The director said, “I am doing a thriller after 10 years. This will be quite different from what I have attempted in the past. I’m returning to my roots after so many years. It’s my way of giving back to my hometown and it feels emotionally satisfactory.”
The film is apparently based on real life events. Sinha said, “The plot of the film revolves around true life events. I am still in the process of closing in on a few more actors.”
Talking about the story, Mustaw Sheikh said, “Some stories resonate with your soul. They are heartfelt yet thrilling. ‘Mulk’ is one such story – that has a pulsating vibe to it and will have you completely captivated.”
Expected to begin production in October, the film will likely release in the early part of 2018.
