Tahi Raj Bhasin As Sunil Gavaskar In Kabir Khan’s ’83

Mardani fame actor Tahir Raj Bhasin will play the role of Sunil Gavaskar in director Kabir Khan’s Ranveer Singh starrer ’83. He is the latest among the series of actors who have joined ’83. The movie is a retelling of India’s 1983 world cup victory.

Tahir Raj Bhasin was last seen Nandita Das’ Manto. The actor played Shyam, a friend of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Saadat Hasan Manto. He is primarily known for villain roles in movies like Force 2 and Mardani.

News regarding the cast for ’83 has been pouring in for a while now. Ranveer Singh essays the role of the world cup winning captain Kapil Dev. The actor will recreate the famous bowling style of the legendary bowler.

Pankaj Tripathi recently signed for the role of the team manager Man Singh. “I was good at bowling and fielding and I am hoping to brush up my batting skills while prepping for this film. I will also meet Man Singh Ji and talk to him about his experiences. For now, I have been given some books and documents to refer to,” the actor was quoted saying.

Tamil actor Jiiva will essay the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth. The film is his Bollywood debut. He has reportedly been practising under the cricketer himself to prepare for the role. “He has been allocating two hours every day for practice sessions. He is working under the supervision of Srikkanth himself. These sessions are expected to be over in February and the actor will start shooting for his part in March,” said a source.

Actor Sahil Khattar will play the role of Syed Kirmani.

Chirag Patil, the real-life son of cricketer Sandeep Patil, will play his father’s role.

Ammy Virk will play the role of Balwinder Singh Sandhu.

’83 is Bollywood’s latest sport based movie. In the past, Sushant Singh Rajput essayed the role of Dhoni in a film, and Emraan Hashmi starred as Mohammed Azharuddin. Sachin: A Billion Dreams, a documentary based on Sachin Tendulkar’s life was also made.

’83 is scheduled to release on April 20, 2020.
