Tamannaah’s Horror-Comedy Titled ‘Petromax’; First Look Out

Actress Tamannaah’s next horror-comedy film has been titled Petromax. The film is directed by Rohin Venkatesan and stars Yogi Babu, Munishkanth, Kaali Venkat, TSK, Sathyan and others.

The first-look poster was released by Kajal Aggarwal on Twitter today. It featured Tamannaah sitting on a chair in a room while the others were by the door and the world around her was upside down. The title, with the picture of a petromax lantern, refers to the classic Senthil-Goundamani petromax comedy scene from Vaidehi Kathirunthal.

A press statement from the film’s producers, Eagle Eye Productions, said that the film is both a thriller and comedy. “To solve their own individual issues, every character comes together as a team with Tamannaah leading the pack. The problems they face, the person behind it, and their attempt to find a resolution forms the rest of the story,” the statement said.

The film stars Prem, Sreeja, KSG Venkatesh and Baby Monica in supporting roles. GR Surendharnath is the dialogue writer, Hari Dinesh is the stunt director, music is by Ghibran, editing is by Leo John Paul, cinematography by Dani Raymond and art direction by Vinoth Rajkumar.

The first-look poster also suggests that reports about the film being inspired by the Telugu film Anando Brahma may be true, although the filmmakers are yet to confirm this. Anando Brahma, written and directed by Mahi V Raghav, followed the story of four people convinced by buyers that a ghost-infested house is safe to live in. This film was a made on a small budget and turned out to be a box-office hit in 2017. It starred Taapssee Pannu in the lead, along with Srinivas Reddy, Vennela Kishore and others.

Taapsee also shared the poster this morning and wished the team.

This is director Rohin Venkatesan’s next thriller after Adhe Kangal starring Kalaiyarasan, Janani Iyer and Shivada, which had a successful opening in 2017.

Tamannaah, last seen in Devi 2 with Prabhu Deva, has the Sundar C directorial, This Is Mahalakshmi and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in the pipeline.
