The notification, announcing the list of winners, was published on the Gazette of India.

Lakshmy took to Twitter to share the news and wrote that she was humbled by this recognition. She also thanked her husband and family for their support.

House Owner is based on the background of the 2015 Chennai floods that killed several hundreds of people and was said to be the worst flood in a century.

Joking that the award was being misunderstood as the National Award, Parthiban said that had got him excited. He has written, directed, and produced Oththa Seruppu Size 7.

The film had won Jury Award for Best Feature Film, Jury Award Best Feature Film Director, and Best Solo Act Award at the Toronto Tamil International Film Festival. Produced by Parthiban under the banner of Bioscope Film Framers, the film features only one character.
