Tanya Replaces Lakshmi Menon In ‘Karuppan’

Lakshmi Menon has been replaced by Tanya Ravichandran of Bale Vellaiyathevaa (2016) fame in director R Paneerselvam’s Karuppan. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi. A New Indian Express report had earlier confirmed that producer CM Rathnam had been in talks with Menon.

Now, a source has told Silverscreen, “Tanya will be starring in this rural film directed by Paneerselvam. There will be actors Bobby Simha and Pasupathy in the film too.”

While there have been no reason given for the replacement, a Sify report suggests that an injury, a ligament tear, led to Menon being replaced after she voluntarily opted out of the project. The injury occurred during rehearsals of certain dance sequences in the film, following which doctors had advised her to rest completely. Earlier, Paneerselvan had approached several actresses including Keerthy Suresh and Ritika Singh before bringing Lakshmi Menon on board.
