Films such as Andala Ramudu and S.S Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramanna boosted Sunil’s career in such a way that he was able to transition from a funny sidekick to a lead actor. But it wasn’t easy sustain the status.
His first few films as the hero worked at the box office, but soon his career started to go downhill. Many of his recent films failed to attract any audience and were declared box office duds. This prompted the actor to rethink his career strategy.

The actor, who had once said that he would to do only lead roles, has signed Ravi Teja’s Amar Akbar Anthony and Sharwanand’s Padi Padi Leche Manasu where he will play supporting role to the hero. And the latest is that Sunil has okayed director Kishore Tirumala’s upcoming project that stars Sai Dharam Tej as the lead. Titled Chitralahari – Bar and Restaurant, the film is a romantic drama.
Sunil was happy with how his role has shaped up and agreed to do the film immediately.
Chitralahari will mostly be shot in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. Kalyani Priyadarshan and Ritika Singh have been roped as the female leads in the film that explores the relationship between a father and son. Interestingly in the film Nenu… Sailaja, Kishore Tirumala explored the relationship between a father and daughter.
