Confirming the news, a trade source was quoted by DC as saying “Yes, this is their second remake acquisition after picking up the remake rights of Arjun Reddy, which was an underdog film and went on to be a huge hit.” Apparently, the team picked up Thadam long before others could evince interest.

Thadam featured Arun Vijay in a double role. The film marked the second collaboration between Arun Vijay and Magizh Thirumeni after Thadaiyara Thaakka, yet another action thriller. Produced by Inder Kumar, Thadam featured three heroines Tanya Hope, Vidya Pradeep and Smruthi Venkat. The movie also starred Sonia Aggarwal. Newcomer Arun Raj scored the music while cinematography was by Gopinath.

The movie went on to become a box office success after its release on March 1. Subsequently, news regarding a Telugu remake emerged. Ram is said to be the likely candidate to play the protagonist in the movie that will be jointly produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and Tagore Madhu.

However, the producers are yet to confirm the news. “It is too early to talk about the remake. Ram is currently in Goa shooting for iSmart Shankar. He is yet to watch the Tamil film, and nothing has been confirmed yet,” Ravi Kishore was quoted by CE.

Meanwhile, shooting has been wrapped up for Kabir Singh. Directed by Sandeep Vanga, who helmed the original too, Kabir Singh features Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead. The movie is slated for release on June 21.

The Tamil version of Arjun Reddy, titled Adithya Varma, is being reshot after the producers scrapped the version directed by Bala.
