Although not much has been revealed about the plot of The Adam Project, is it said to be a time-travel movie where Reynolds will try to use a time-travel technology to reunite with a younger version of himself to solve a mystery.

In December 2017, Netflix had announced a four-year contract with Levy due to the immense success of their series Stranger Things, of which he is one of the directors. The Adam Project will be the first project under The Group Effort Initiative, an organisation created by Reynolds to support Black, Indigenous, People of Colour members and other members of marginalised communities find entry into the film industry.

The actor had taken to Instagram a few days back and announced his first class of trainees to participate in this initiative by sharing a group picture with them. Earlier, while announcing the project, the actor had revealed that it would be a paid training program for marginalised people of all ages, who could train on set with him. He had also said that the trainees will receive a stipend, on-set learning experience and industry connections. All the expenses will be paid by Reynolds.
