The title poster of Theru, the upcoming Malayalam film starring actor Amith Chakalakkal in the lead, was released by the makers on Tuesday through their social media handle.
Theru is produced by Jobi P Sam under the banner of Nile & Blue Hill Motion Pictures in association with Blue Hill Nael Communication. The film, with script and dialogues by Dinil PK, is directed by SJ Sinu.
The makers of the film said in a statement that Theru (Chariot) will be a family action thriller. Aside from Chakalakkal, the film will feature actors Baburaj, Kalabhavan Shajon, and Vijaya Raghavan in pivotal roles.
The cast also includes Sanju Sivram, Prasanth Alexander, Sreejith Ravi, Azees Nedumangad, Shafeeq, Sminu Sijo, Riya Saira and RJ Nilja.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, a source close to the film’s unit, requesting anonymity, said that Chakalakkal will play a cop in the film. “The story revolves around the conflict between the protagonist and other law enforcers. The film will go on floors tomorrow (Wednesday) adhering to the Covid-19 SOP issued by the government. It will be completely shot in Palakkad. For now, the makers plan to shoot for 30 days, but they may extend it by five more days,” the source added.
The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer TD Sreenivas, editor Samjith Mohammed, music composers Yakzan and Neha, and art director Prashanth Madhav.
It may be noted that Theru marks the second collaboration of director Sinu and producer Jobi P Sam after Djibouti, an upcoming romantic action thriller which stars Amith Chakalakkal, Shagun Jaswal, Dileesh Pothan, Jacob Gregory, Biju Sopanam and Anjali Nair in significant roles.
Djibouti will mark the debut of both the director and producer and Theru will be their second directorial and production venture, respectively.
Apart from Djibouti and Theru, Chakalakkal, who was last seen in the 2021 Malayalam political thriller Yuvam, also has a few other projects in the pipeline, including the films Aaha and Passport.
