SA Chandrasekhar’s Touring Talkies will have two distinct story-lines. The first half will deal with a 75-year-old man who lives his life pining for the lost love of his youth while the second half has a poor village woman in search of a most treasured possession. In an interview to Kungumam, the director revealed, “I wanted the story to accurately reflect the title. The touring talkies of yore had two different shows, and so will my film.”
The first half is semi-autobiographical, claimed SAC. “A little of the story is from my real life. I have done many good things in my youth and some mistakes as well. For a film to be a biography, I have to show my mistakes as well. I don’t really want to do that.”
Abhi Saravanan plays the younger version of SAC in the film while Papri Ghosh plays the love interest. Actress Sunu Lakshmi dons the role of the village woman while Aswin Kumar and Gayathri essay supporting roles. Sreekar Prasad handles the editing of Touring Talkies along with Rajeesh. Robo Vijay plays a ‘comic villain’. Ilaiyaraaja composes music.
