On his birthday (January 21), actor Tovino Thomas announced his next film titled Minnal Murali by director Basil Joseph. This is Tovino’s ninth film lined up for the year. The actor and director last worked together in the 2017 film Godha.
According to a report, the director said that Minnal Murali (lightning Murali) is a superhero film. Other details about the cast and crew will be announced later. Here’s the first look poster.

The film will be produced by Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters who previously co-produced Bangalore Days, and produced Kaadu Pookkunna Neram, Munthirivallikal, and the 2018 film Padayottam, by director Rafeek Ibrahim.
Tovino was last seen in Oru Kuprasidha Payyan and Ente Ummante Peru. He recently made his Tamil debut as the antagonist in Balaji Mohan’s Dhanush-starrer Maari 2.
His upcoming films include Lucifer, And The Oscar Goes To, and Luca which have completed shoot and are in post production. The second look of And The Oscar…, directed by the National Award winning Salim Ahamed, released recently. The movie tells the story of a struggling filmmaker who is trying to make his debut.
Kilometres and Kilometres, Tovino’s first production venture has just wrapped shoot. It’s a comedy film starring him in the lead, directed by Jeo Baby of 2 Pennkuttikal fame. Tovino is also currently busy with shoot for Virus, a film on the Nipah virus outbreak last year in Kerala. It is directed by Aashiq Abu, and is set in Kozhikode.
He will soon begin filming debut director Praveen Prabharam’s Kalki. He stars as a police officer in the film, a role reportedly similar to Mammootty’s popular character Inspector Balram. Joe, by director Alby, will also see him in the lead role. The film marks Tovino’s second collaboration with the team of Starring Pournami, which is being delayed because of financial constrains.
