Luca’s co-writer Mridul George has collaborated with Arun for the script of this upcoming film as well. The untitled film is produced by renowned director-producer Salim Ahamed under the Allens Media banner.

In conversation with Silverscreen India, Arun notes that it will be a mature love story with some thriller elements. “Unni Mukundan and Aparna play a married couple in this film. Apart from romance, the film will be all about the warmth, friendship and understanding between the couple.”

“I am a huge fan of writer O Henry’s stories. During the Covid-19 induced pandemic, I felt that one of his short stories had the potential for a very rooted and simple adaptation as a film. So, I shared that idea with my co-writer Mridul and he liked it. We then took 3-4 days to design the story’s outline and completed the screenplay in a month,” he says. “Similar to Luca, rain will be an important component in this film as well.”

Arun had earlier spoken to Salim during the Sharjah Book Fair and the latter expressed interest in producing a good script. So, once their script was ready, Arun pitched it to Salim. “He liked it and agreed to back the film. Later, Salim told cinematographer Madhu Ambat sir about the project. I sent him the script and he also agreed to join the team. Madhu sir is a very senior technician. He is still energetic and it has been a great learning experience working with him,” the director adds.

The film went on floors on December 1 in Cheruthoni. Aside from the two leads, it features actors Mala Parvathy, Prashanth Murali and Jaffer Idukki. Luca’s music composer Sooraj S Kurup and art director Anees Nadodi are part of the technical team for the upcoming film as well, along with editor Kiran Das.
