Vaathi/Sir: Dhanush to Play a Lecturer in Venky Atluri’s Bilingual; Shooting Begins in January

Vaathi / Sir is the title of actor Dhanush’s upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual film that will be helmed by director Venky Atluri. The actor released the title motion poster of the film on social media on Thursday.

Set to be produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments with Sai Soujanya of Fortune Four Cinemas on board as the co-producer, the film will reportedly be made on a big scale. A press statement notes that it will be “an ambitious journey of a common man,” with Dhanush playing the role of a lecturer. The film will talk about the education system in our country, the statement adds.

Besides Dhanush, Sir will also star Samyuktha, who is awaiting the release of the Telugu film Bheemla Nayak. It will mark her first collaboration with the actor. The rest of the cast is yet to be announced.

GV Prakash Kumar will be composing the music of the film, while the cinematography will be handled by Dinesh Krishnan B. Other crew members include editor Naveen Nooli and production designer Avinash Kolla.

The bilingual will go on floors in January 2022.

This project is set to be the first Telugu film that Dhanush shoots for. But, the National Award-winning actor also has another multilingual project in the works: a yet-to-be titled film with Telugu director Sekhar Kammula which will be shot and released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Dhanush, who is awaiting the release of Aanand L Rai’s romantic drama Atrangi Re on Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, also has several other films in the pipeline. These include The Gray Man, directed by the Russo Brothers; a second project with Karnan director Mari Selvaraj; the sequel to Aayirathil Oruvan, directed by Selvaraghavan; Thiruchitrambalam for Sun Pictures; and Maaran with Karthick Naren.
