Vairamuthu and Tirru have expressed their deep joy and happiness at being chosen for the National Award this year. While Vairamuthu was honoured thus for his work on Entha Pakkam song in Dharmadurai, Tirru was chosen for his cinematography work on the Suriya starrer 24.

Vairamuthu told ToI“If I bag an award, happiness is just for a day. It actually adds responsibility on my shoulder. We can entertain people via art, at the same time, we can also educate them. Educating people through art is easier. When I write a song, I always feel the responsibility to educate people. This particular song, Endha Pakkam, which is relevant to the current situation, is one such song. This song is about like a girl who comforts a guy, who was depressed due to love failure. Endha Pakkam Kaanumbọthu Vaanam Onru, Nee Endha Paadhai Yegumbọthum Oorgal Undu!

Meanwhile, Tirru is just excited to have been chosen for the honour. “Finally, they have considered me for this precious gift. I feel more responsible and more creatively energised by this honour, and hope to get many more such awards with my work in the future,” he told Silverscreen.
