Varun Dhawan Apologises For ‘Nepotism Rocks’ Act At IIFA

Varun Dhawan, Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar received flak from Twitterati for their ‘Nepotism Rocks’ act at IIFA, held in New York last week. Varun, Saif and Karan had joked about Kangana’s branding of Karan Johar as the flagbearer of nepotism on his chat show.

Following Twitterati slamming them for the act, Varun tweeted an apology on Tuesday. “I express my apology and regret…I’m extremely sorry if I have offended or hurt anyone with that act.”

Karan and Saif, who were hosting the awards, re-kindled the nepotism issue that started in Bollywood after Kangana’s comment about Karan on his show, Coffee With Karan. Varun joined Karan and Saif on stage when he received the Best Performance in a Comic Role award for Dishoom, Saif said in jest that he made it big because of his father, David Dhawan. “You are here because of your papa.” Varun said, “You are here because of your mummy (Sharmila Tagore). Karan then added, “I’m here because of my papa (late Yash Johar). They then said, “Nepotism rocks”.
