The first look poster of Vascodagama was released on Friday by various film personalities, including actor Sivakarthikeyan.

The film is produced by Malaysian entrepreneur Dato Subhaskharan under his banner 5656 Productions. The director and producer have also collaborated on the upcoming OTT series Devadas Parvathi, which is known for featuring the last track sung by late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.

Speaking about Vascodagama, Krishnan says, “It is a fictional comedy thriller whose the title is based on the initials of each of the main characters in the film. Nakkhul plays the role of Vasudhevan, who has different shades and is connected to the other main characters. This is denoted by the chains in the title.”

On casting Nakkhul, the filmmaker says, “We wanted someone who has a ‘good boy’ look and he was our first choice. We will soon be revealing the female lead and villain of the film.”

Director KS Ravikumar and actor Munishkanth are also part of the cast, Krishnan adds.

“The film does not have any fantasy element and is not associated with a particular time period. We have also not mentioned any place as the backdrop of this story,” the filmmaker mentions, adding that the screenplay has a “pure logic” to it.

Krishnan reveals that he has been working on this script for a couple of years. “I got the knot for this film while working on Devadas Parvathi.”

Vascodagama will be shot completely in Chennai over three schedules. The film, which will have cinematography by Vaanjinathan, will be completed by November. “We will be shooting in small sets, for which the work is currently on,” adds the director.

The film has music composed by NV Arun and it will feature four songs, all choreographed by Sandy, says Krishnan. “We plan to rope in star singers and musicians to sing each of the tracks,” he adds.

The makers are planning for a Tamil New Year release in April 2022.
