The digitized version of the 1959 cult-classic movie, Veerapandiya Kattabomman will be released sometime in April. The official release date will be announced in the coming weeks. The new version is presented by B Srinivasulu of Sai Ganesh Films.
The trailer of the film was launched today and the event was attended by actors Sivakumar, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Ramkumar, Dushyanth, lyricist Vairamuthu, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu and Gemini Ganesan’s daughter Kamala Selvaraj.
Directed by B R Panthulu, Veerapandiya Kattabomman stars Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, Padmini, V K Ramasamy, and S Varalakshmi. The film was critically acclaimed and won several awards and accolades. The movie made it to the Cairo, Afro-Asian festival and won awards for Best Music, Best Movie and Best Actor.
This historical film was the first movie to be shot in Technicolor.
