The trailer promises a straight-forward sequel that takes the original story of the Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu team forward. Vikranth joins the team, replacing Marimuthu (played by Vishnu Vishal) who died in the last film. Kishore as Soudamuthu plays the coach, and Pasupathy is Vikranth’s father. Appukutty, Ganja Karuppu, and Soori, who is also back to eating kothu parotta, are part of the team. The film has a romantic subplot with Arthana Binu and Vikranth as lovers.

The team trains under coach Soudamuthu and has a lot of pride for the sport, but is infamous for losing matches and is also under the pressure of loans taken for the boys to continue playing. To add to this, a day before their final match, there are attempts by a gang outside, with Aruldoss as one of the main villains, to attack and stop them from contesting. The trailer promises an engaging story of how the boys try  relentlessly till the end.

Both the original and sequel are said to be inspired by real-life incidents. Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu (2009) marked Suseenthiran’s debut as director. He had based some of the events on the experiences of his father, a kabaddi player. Selvashekaran, who has directed the sequel, is also a kabaddi player.
