Veteran Bengali Actress Sabitri Chatterjee To Play Lead In An Upcoming Rom-Com

Yesteryear Bengali actress Sabitri Chatterjee will star in a romantic comedy titled Thammar Boyfriend (Grandma’s Boyfriend). The film will narrate a love story between Partho, played by 36-year-old Abir Chatterjee, and Nandini Mitra, a septuagenarian played by Sabitri Chatterjee. Nandini Mitra is a widow and loner, living in a big village mansion. She falls for Partho, and wishes to marry him, much to the surprise of her son and daughter; the whole set up leads to funny moments.

Sabitri is a Padma Shri awardee whose career spans more than 50 years. She is best known for her work in Nishipadma (1971), which was later remade in Hindi as Amar Prem with Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.
