Vidyasagar ‘Excited’ To Compose ‘Melody Rich Album’ For Thiruttu Payale 2

Music Composer Vidyasagar will compose the music for Thiruttu Payale 2. The prolific composer, whose last Tamil release was Uchathula Shiva (2016), is excited to work on this Susi Ganeshan directorial.

This is Vidyasagar’s first collaboration with Susi Ganeshan, whose previous films have featured music by Himesh Reshammiya, Barathwaj, and others. Vidyasagar revealed that the album for this film will feature five songs. “Ganeshan was very particular about the kind of music he wanted for the film. He wanted a lot of melodies, and did not want too much of an influence of electronic or dance based music. So I’ve decided to keep the album as melody rich as possible.”

In his heyday, Vidyasagar composed for around ten Tamil films in a year. The number eventually decreased, and now Vidyasagar restricts himself to one or two a year. The composer feels that the current generation prefer the EDM-influenced music of Anirudh Ravichander, and do not appreciate melodies much. “Since, I’m very much a Melody man, it becomes tougher for me to exist in this climate.”

The trend is on its way out, Vidyasagar believes. “The heavy beats and disco theme music has been here for over five years. It’s dying out. The success of an album like Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada proves that. The audience want more soft, soothing songs.”
