Actor Vishal, speaking to a regional TV channel, recalled that early in his career some producers had criticised his appearance, and that he had drawn inspiration from Vijay’s handling of similar criticism. “When Vijay had just started out, a magazine had commented, ‘Who will pay money to watch this face on the big screen?’ Vijay proved everyone wrong by silently letting his work speak for him,” Vishal said. He added that he used this example to handle a similar situation in his career.
The actor who has been riding high after two consecutive hits — Pandia Naadu and Naan Sigapu Manithan, said, “I have grown as an actor seeing Vijay. When I direct my first film I want to cast Vijay. I have visualised him in myriad roles including that of an anti-hero and a superhero.” While he has no immediate plans of directing a movie, Vishal expressed hope that Vijay would agree to work under his direction.
